DashNettes

DashNette smashes together my first and middle names, Dasha + Ninette. Of all the pet names my mother invented, DashNette is cutest. Sweet, deliciously corny and, consequently, a favorite charm I get to wear. As an Amazonian kid, “cute” was a tag assigned to other girls. Petite girls. Trendy girls. Girls with fewer words, quieter ideas, less compelled to unwind their full selves. Life has grown me into a woman still eager to share the heart of my story; life has coached me to keep some of the letters tucked beneath my tongue. 100-word DashNettes. Enough omission to tell it all.
